Taking It Way Up North

Sauce Boss at White Sands

Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Youngstown, Sharon, Philadelphia, New York, AND…The White Mountain Blues and Boogie Festival.
Here's the Schedule.

It's summertime. Time to bring cool blues, hot sauce, and gumbo to a cooler clime. I am sooo looking forward to seeing my friends and meeting some new ones along the way. I'll be hitting some of my old haunts, and I'm stoked to to be playing the City Winery in Philadelphia for the first time. So alert the troops. If you have people in the Philly area, let em know what's up.

Deep in the Shed

Getting ready for the trip. Here's my rehearsal setuo. I've been playin my three string fryin pan…a LOT. I'm getting to know the instrument and y'all know how a new guitar will speak to you. Well, this one SHOUTS. I'm doin the new stuff and I'm also arranging some of my fave rockers to accommodate this new addition to the family. I am so lucky to have the support of my friends. The 53 Tele and the Fryin Pan were gifts. The Fine Resophonic National style guitar is the “Bill Wharton Special” crafted by Mike Lewis, and named for me. I am honored on all counts.(Check out Fine Resophonic Guitars). One of the racks on top of the bass amp has a splitter and a digital multitrack recorder. This is the beginning of a new project. I will be recording most of the shows on this run. So please come and be part of my history. Hoots and hollars appreciated.

The new Album is HERE.

Expansive is the word.
“Any album from Bill Wharton, the Sauce Boss, is guaranteed to be a good time.  He never disappoints with his entertaining songs and his flair for mixing various genres with the blues that fit into a perfect musical gumbo…The Sauce Boss' recordings always put a smile on my face....they're so well-played and the songs are always memorable and Wharton's genial performances are a delight.  The band support on this release (the “Extra Sauce”) is first-rate.  Do yourself a favor and check out the music of the Sauce Boss if you've not had the pleasure previously.  You can thank me later." I always take it with me

This is the lucky me edition of my blog. I have worked long and hard for this moment, (In my music and in my life), slowly keeping the good stuff and discarding the unnecessary. A large part of this is what I eat. I always say, “Liquid Summer will CHANGE your life” as a hyperbolic joke. I extoll the virtues of my hot sauce in my best snake oil salesman's voice; but actually, it's no joke. Recent studies have shed light on the health benefits of capsicum. So here I am at a Mexican restaurant slathering my burritos with the elixir. The hot sauce for the new millinium. The road to culinary nirvana. Liquid Summer Hot Sauce!  To be able to live my life on my own terms, play my own music, and have as much of the best hot sauce around is mind blowing, to say the least. How lucky can one man be? Some people would say I'm blessed. Either way, I am happy in this moment. Be Happy! Order some.

To all who've bought vinyl, CDs and downloads of my music. This is keeping me afloat. As the times have changed, Spotify and similar platforms have gobbled up a majority of my revenue that I was making from selling CDs and vinyl so I am left to use my wits to survive. Luckily I've been doing pretty good playing out and about, and if you know me, you know it's not about money anyway. Never has been. I am passionate about getting my music and my message of sharing to as many people as possible. Please help me spread the word. Share this with your friends. Tell em, “Sign up for recipes, tour schedule, and stories.”
And I'll see ya down the road,
BW
