WOW! WHAT A TRIP!
After a week of the San Diego Fair with two shows a
day, we flew to Omaha for two more shows, and then...
OH YEAH! PARIS, FRANCE! It's my town. Merci du public
en Le Creusot! (Thanks to the audience in Le Creusot
for another mind blowing experience.) Also thanks to
Delphine and Thierry at the Moulin Rouge for the hospitality,
food, and wine, We brought home the wine. After a rip
snortin' blowout in the Burgundy region, it's good to
be back. I'm talkin bout Thomasville, Georgia, Y'all!
Then it's off to Ohio and Pittsburgh for a round of
festivals. Then it's up to the Dinosaur BBQ and the
Lafayette Tap Room in Buffalo. Here's
the complete schedule.
MOULES A LA LEON
There's a chain of restaurants in Paris called "Leon's
of Brussels". They serve moules and frites (mussels
and French fries). Been doin it forever. They serve
em up in a cast iron pot like a little dutch oven, and
boy are they good. Here's my approximation--In a large
deep cast iron pot, put chopped onion, celery, and some
butter. Saute until the onions are translucent, and
some water, and also a pound or two of fresh mussels,
A little salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook em
till they are done. Do NOT overcook yer mussels. You
can also add some Bleu cheese, cream, or white vine
if you are so inclined. Use your baguette to sop up
the broth.

SAUCE BOSS IN LE CREUSOT, FRANCE
Fred is a great photographer. He's got ...Timing.

So I'm sitting here in
Chamonix,
in the French Alps, looking out onto the balcony at
Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, with a huge
glacier dripping off the side, and chalets and edelweiss
- total yodel-eh-de-hoo out the yen-yang. I gotta say
this is the best air conditioning I ever had. It's July
and I'm bundled up for the chill down in the valley.
After a killer show in Burgundy we're chillin' in style.
This morning I was inside a glacier, all blue and bubbles,
The river rages past, swollen with the melting snow,
and the town is settling in for an early evening of
good food, drink, and what have you. Tomorrow it's off
to Italy via cable car over the mountains. I love my
job. For more photos of the French trip, check this
out.
