PLANET GUMBO WENT TO D.C.
Last month Majic John, Big Jim, and the Sauce Boss cooked
and played for the largest homeless shelter in the country.
The clients at the Community for Creative Non-violence
were surprised when they came in from the freezing cold
to be greeted by a wild man slinging gumbo and blues
at 'em from every angle.
SPEAKING OF PLANET GUMBO--WE
ARE PLANNING A PARTY!
Planet Gumbo is going to be celebrating at our
2nd Annual Planet Gumbo Benefit at the 1940's era American
Legion Hall at Lake Ella in our hometown, Tallahassee,
FL on Saturday March 6th. It's the best dance hall in
town and we will also have a great silent auction and
hors d'oeuvres, and GUMBO!! For those of you who live
out-of-town--we will have info on motel deals coming
soon, but we wanted to plant the idea in your mind right
now. Tallahassee is a beautiful place with rolling hills,
a national wildlife refuge, lots of downhome oyster
bars, and still mostly like Old Florida. If you think
you might want us to reserve a room for you for drop
a line to info@planetgumbo.org, so that we can get a
rough idea of how many we'll need.
We are also gratefully accepting sponsorship donations
and silent auction items. Planet Gumbo is now an official
501c3 non-profit organization, so any donations are
fully tax-deductible. Call the Planet Gumbo office at
850-425-2805 or mail to: Planet Gumbo, 678 McDonnell
Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32310.

Daughter Annie's art can be seen in an article about
the Miami art scene (Visit her studio at The Art Center S. FL, 800 Lincoln Road #107, Miami Beach). And daughter Mary was just nominated

THE LAST CARROT
3133 GRAND AVE.
COCONUT GROVE, FL 33133
305-445-0805
Back in the hippie days, the Grove was one of the "hippest"
places to hang. It was then that The Last Carrot came
to be. Catering to the health consious clientele of
Miami, they have hung for decades. "Fresh"
is the operative terminology at the Carrot. Juices,
smoothies, pita sandwiches, and yummy salads are made
to order with your health in mind.

13105 W. DIXIE HIGHWAY
N. MIAMI FL 33161
MONDAY - SATURDAY 11:00AM - 10:30PM
How bout some oxtail, or stewed conch, fish, shrimp,
beans and rice, or something called Saturday soup? The
menu is in English or French at this little Haitian
take out in North Miami. The folks are super friendly
and generous too. When I told the chef that I make hotsauce,
he gave me a pint of his special marinade. Their habanero
salsa is real good.
