OPA! RESTAURANT
614 ATHENS STREET,
TARPON SPRINGS, FL 34689 (727) 934-8444
There's so much great food in Tarpon Springs. This little Greek community is tight together. The shop keepers and restaurantuers all stop to talk, say "hey!" in Greek, and carry on. It's as if a little piece of the Mediterranean broke off and somehow floated to Florida. Nestled among the sponges and bakeries and tourist boutiques is Opa! appropriately always spelled with an exclamation point! A little restaurant where English is a second language, if spoken at all. The best octopus I ever had. Tender as can be. Grilled to perfection. Also real authentic Greek delicacies like sweetbreads sauteed with olive oil, garlic, and lemon. Or a creamy caviar dip for an appetiser. Of course the salad is…yep…you guessed it…GREEK! For the real deal, if you like tentacles, OPA!
