JUPITER, TALLAHASSEE AND HOLLYWOOD FOR MARDI GRAS!

HERE'S THE NEWS FROM PLANET GUMBO.
On Jan. 28th we cooked for about 150 people at The Shelter in Tallahassee. Me and John and Jim played an acoustic set while the gumbo simmered. What a great feeling to actually see Planet Gumbo in action. Then on Feb. 1st, the Benefit for Planet Gumbo at the American Legion Hall in Tally Town was hoppin'. The evening was a huge success. We are on our way to PLANET GUMBO! If you are not familiar with Planet Gumbo yet, check out the web site. Come join us. Be a Planeteer.

I've had a lot of people ask, "What can I do to help?"
Well, here's a few things you could do to help the Planet.
1. Become a member (it's only 20 bucks a year. $300 gets you in for life) Every new Planeteer will receive a free Blues CD From Kingsnake Records. We need a strong member base to establish non-profit status with the IRS and to apply for grants and other support.

2. Make a donation (any amount is gratefully accepted)

3. Send my Planet Gumbo Letter to five friends and ask them to do the same

4. Volunteer. Where ever we do a Homeless shelter performance we will need cooks, gumbo ingredients, sound equipment, and hotel rooms. You may have ideas too. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email . Be sure to include your name, phone number, mailing address and nearest large city.

SALAD DRESSING
Lemon juice
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Liquid Summer to taste
What else do ya need?

WOLFIE COHEN'S RASCAL HOUSE
172ND STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA 305-947-4581
Calories 'r' us. Cholesterol out the yin yang. Chopped liver, pickled herring, sky high pastrami, stuffed cabbage, kishka, kippers, kashka varnishkas, and knishes. Blintzes, brisket, borscht, corned beef and cabbage, bobka, matzoh ball soup, and they have kosher food too! Actually you can have a ham steak if that's yer pleasure. The "Triple Decker" (pastrami and chopped liver with onions and tomato) is enough to feed a family of four. AND... BIG... DESSERTS...!!! Open seven days a week. Late on weekends. BURP! Excuse ME!

SALMON SKIN-DISCARDED TREASURE
This may be difficult for some of you finicky eaters, but I've got this thing for salmon skin. Like at the sushi bar... salmon skin... the fish... get it? Salmon skin. Yummmm. "Brave was the first man to ever eat an oyster", I believe is the quote. It's kinda like that. Once you get past the idea of it, it's grrrreat! It's crunchy, full of flavor and fish oils. ummmmm good. OK, if yer not into sushi, let me tell ya how they do it. They broil the skin and put it in rice rolls with a sweet sauce. Are y'all with me here?

Well, let me explain it this way. I think of salmon skin as the bacon of the sea. Except instead of being loaded with dangerous cholesterol, it's loaded with w3 fatty acids which are very beneficial to your heart. Sooo... I like to put it in a frying pan with olive oil and have it with eggs in the morning, or try this- a SSLT (salmon skin, lettuce, and tomato sandwich). Go 'head put a little mayo on the bread. Splurge. You can afford it. Of course you'll need a splash of Liquid Summer Hot Sauce on it no matter how you fix it.
